My Reaction to the Preliminary 2.3 Patch Notes

WoW Insider just published an article with a lot of tidbits about the now-eagerly-anticipated 2.3 patch, which some guesses are putting at a November release.

Here are just a few items that caught my attention:

  • [Hunter] Trueshot Aura will be free to cast and is going to last until canceled. (source): I like this change–TSA is, after all, an aura.
  • [Rogue] one other change to poisons though is that they will last for one hour now, increased from 30 minutes. (source): Another one I like, a LOT!! Together with doing away with Blind Powder, I’m feeling the love!
  • Auction House will now sort server side. If multiple pages exist you will be able to sort across all pages.
  • Auction House post times have been changed to 12, 24, and 48 hours. Deposit prices remain the same for each time increment.
    • The first of these is a Good Thing–trying to compare prices across 5 pages (no exaggeration!) has been a major PITA for me. But the second–extending auction timers–I’m not so sure about. I think I’d have preferred to simply see a 48-hour timer added (but I really don’t think many people will use it, especially in a volatile market).

Of course, a lot more changes than the few I’ve highlighted have been announced. Each class forum has a sticky listing preliminary changes for that class, and plenty of other bloggers and fansites have touched on many more than I have. But I’ve learned not to get too excited about a patch until patch day.

What are your feelings on the upcoming 2.3 patch?
