My new favorite WoW resource is Xornot’s Gem Finder, which bills itself as “a comprehensive guide to World of Warcraft socketable gems and jewels.” (Thanks to BigRedKitty for the head’s-up!)
Falken, my solo rogue, took up jewelcrafting some time after hitting Level 70; his skill just hit 362 last night. One of my challenges has been to decide on which advanced patterns to bid in the Auction Hall. (While the craft is profitable, I don’t have a swift flying mount—yet—which makes all the difference in the world in being able to effectively and efficiently mine adamantite, so I’m not filthy rich. Yet.)
Using Xornot’s Gem Finder, I can see at a glance what the different patterns will lead to, and then determine how well I think those gems might sell. Sure, I can look up each pattern or gem on WoW Head, but to me that’s a lot more tedious, and involves a lot more mouse-clicking. Want to know what you can do with a Star of Elune? No problem!
But this site isn’t just a boon for a jewelcrafter. Have a new pair of gloves with a red and blue socket? Or do you want to add Attack Power and Critical Strike to your wristbands? The list Xornot provides can be filtered just about any way you’d reasonably want to narrow your search—and this is the real beauty of the site.
Even if you aren’t a jewelcrafter, Xornot’s Gem Finder is clearly a 5-Star Resource!
