Blog Spam: We HATES It!

All my fellow bloggers know what I’m talking about. On Blogspot, spam is the reason for the "copy the letters" box before you can post a comment. On WordPress, it’s the reason someone’s first comment to a blog awaits moderation before appearing.

Fortunately, WordPress bloggers have Akismet, which is a free spam interceptor plug-in. So far, it’s blocked 120 spam messages for me, with maybe one or two false positives, but no spam posted.

But the reason for this particular post is the head-shaking link in one of the messages I just saw Akismet blocked. Normally, when I review blocked spam, I glance through it quickly to be sure there’s not a false positive (strings of ?????????? are a tip-off that Akismet’s doing it’s thing properly Razzberry). But the last item in the latest list gave me pause.

I’m not going to give the link, but the title was "AA Meetings for Gay Visitors to Boston." HUH? I mean, seriously…W T H?
