Vacation!!!

Aloha - Man receiving a leiFinally…FINALLY…after months of anticipa- tion, Mrs. Kestrel and I are headed for Hawai’i on Sunday morning. This will be our second trip: Two and a half years ago we spent a week on the Big Island with her mom, brother, and sister-in-law. Good times, good times!

This time, we’ll be joined by our beautiful 3-year-old granddaughter, Alison. Ohh…right…her mom and dad (our oldest son) will be with us too. And we’ll be on Oahu, in a rented house a block away from the beach (or so I’m told). We’ll also get to see Mrs. K’s Uncle Bob, who moved there a couple years ago from Lake Tahoe. I guess if you’re trading one paradise for another, an upgrade is a Very Good Thing!

However, this means the Aerie will most likely be on somewhat of a hiatus: I return on the 15th, and back to work (and catching up–the penance for Having Fun) on the 16th. (Mrs. K will be staying another 10-12 days with some girlfriends. Yes, I am jealous.)

I’ll have my laptop, and the house we’re staying in has wi-fi, so I may get to post the occasional (short) article, but this vacation is mostly about Family Fun, and I’m pretty sure I’m the only blogger in the group. However, I expect to return with batteries fully recharged–so expect a flurry of activity after the middle of the month.

Until then, aloha and mahalo–till we meet again, thanks for reading!

I like the pretty twilight shore line imiage of your blog… but can I pelase ahve a pretty kestrel birdie to admire too? Maybe off ta the side?

You have a gr8 vacation and be careful… I hear that if your car breaks down halfway there, a tow can be a serious pain.

Thanks for the good wishes. We got in at 3pm Hawaiian time after an excellent flight. Good-humored crew helped make it an enjoyable flight.

We’re staying in a guest house about 100 yards from the beach, in Kailua on Oahu. Interestingly, when we were here 2 years ago on the Big Island, the area we stayed in on the Kona Coast was also called Kailua.

BBB, the image at the top of the site is part of the WP theme; not sure if my Photoshop skillz are leveled up enough to merge in a kestrel, but it’s something to think about.

Kestrel the reason the name was the same is cause the Hawaiian language only has like 18 letters in it. Pretty interesting and try and see the Dole plantation its pretty neat at least it was 15 years ago.
