Cross your fingers for me…

As I posted on Monday, I’m in the process of moving the blog to a new domain. Getting the domain name and webspace, and initializing the database, have been trivial, thanks to GoDaddy. Once I figured out they don’t support WordPress under Windows (on the server) and I switched to Linux, it was even easier. That took all of 2 minutes.

They even had WordPress 2.3. So I installed it. And of course as soon as I looked at the site, I got the message to upgrade WP to 2.3.1 (it’s a security patch, natch). So I did that.

And that’s when my problems began. The site would look almost right, but I couldn’t get FeedBurner to accept the RSS feed. I couldn’t get the left sidebar enhanced links to work. There were other minor frustrations and aggravations. I worked on it for 3 hours last night when I got home, and again for 2 more hours after playing WoW (midnight to 2am ).

So this morning I decide to start over. One of the weird things was I deleted the original database last night, then created a new one. And damned if my original WordPress stuff wasn’t still there! WTF, over??

Finally, this morning, I was poking around GoDaddy.com, and looked at my "Installed Applications." DOH! Every time I made a new DB, my installed apps were being added. What a maroon! So, I uninstalled WP via GoDaddy, and once again FTP-installed 2.3.1. And that upload has just finished, so I’m off to see if maybe the world in Bloggermania will be a little brighter today.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Americans! One of the things I’m thankful for is all of you–those whose blogs I read, and those who read our blogs.
