Not at WoW, but at our stoopid corporate firewall. I can understand why worldofwarcraft.com and wowhead.com (among others) might be blocked, but to block Phaelia and Amanna (Mania‘s been blocked forever
) makes no sense. WHY? And why NOW? (This just happened in the last few days, AFAIK.)
At first, I thought maybe wordpress.com addresses were being blocked, but that isn’t the case. Someone’s been hunting down these bloggers and adding them to the "no visitation" list. I’m afraid to click links out of my newsreader, for fear of finding more blockage.
Grrrrrrr…
Oh, and Phaelia? I vote for /p "I’d like to dedicate this one to Elune. 25 MP5 coming right up!"

NOOOOOooooooOOooooOooOOOooooo!!!!
That STINKS. Currant from DruidTank.blogspot.com has had the same problem for the past few weeks so maybe your firewall was updated from the same database his has been using. =( That’s just awful. Are you still able to use reader to see the RSS? I can’t imagine they could filter the feedburner RSS. But that doesn’t help with images. =(
Maybe it’s a giant conspiracy. The company I work for recently started blocking WordPress and Blogspot addresses. Luckily I can hit most of the other blogs I visit. Oh, and WowInsider is blocked. Glad I found Google Reader, but sucks I can’t comment on a lot of the ones I read.
http://www.google.com/reader/
gets around most coporate firewalls for me. if you have a gmail account it’s not hard to learn/use too.
Oh, I can see the RSS feed in Google Reader just fine. And I was able to see all the photos you uploaded. But I can’t comment…until I get home at night (which is when I’d prefer to be in game).
I so want to be retired! :p
I feel for ya….we use that silly Websense here and about 2 weeks ago, I was able to browse WoWHead with no issues…then I come in one day…BLOCKED! I also found certain blogs blocked..like WoWInsider, yet my Google Reader allows me to read them. I hate the fact that forums are blocked to. I think all companies use the same type of corporate blocking software.
The place I work uses the similar stuff. You wouldn’t believe my surprise when I logged in one day to find my own blog blocked O_o
For me, each time I go to a “restricted site,” it tells me why that site was blocked. Any wordpress/blogger site it says “Web Logs/Personal Pages” and for anything WoW-related, it says “Gaming/Entertainment” – It is kind of Ironic, I work in the medical billing industry part time and even university hospital websites are blocked since the use the “.edu” extension… O_O Sucks doesn’t it? The only solace is that guild sites/forums are often useable and personal blogs (like this one!) which are on its own domain tend to give me no trouble.
*pat pat*
Death to corporate firewalls. Don’t they know a happy content worker is a more productive worker. It’s because of those peons that I’m happy where I work. Sorry to hear about your luck Kes, and I hope the powers that be smite your firewall.
It’s a good thing I say resto4life is blocked, everytime I go there I get bombarded by “touch my barkskin” popups and “don’t accept rebirth just yet” insurance scams! bad Phaelia!
@megan: ROFL!! (Avoid the popups: Use Firefox.)
Must be the same system my employer’s on. We use websense, and resto4life just started getting blocked ’bout a week ago. I don’t seem to have any trouble with blogspot or wordpress on their own, though.
I’m in a similar boat. Some sites I can access, others not. I can read just about anything that’s blogspot.com but I can’t log in, and therefore cannot post. So I write my responses, and my own posts and email them home. That way, at home, its just a few minutes of posting stuff, and doesn’t really interfere with my wow time. But it does make things like item links or images a royal pain in the butt. I do have a separate domain that I use for other stuff, so I’ve started posting any images I link on my blog up there, because my work blocks the images from blogspot. Not sure if it helps other people, but it does help me, and makes me feel like I’m sticking it to the “man”. Funny how we rebel in the silliest of ways.
Amava, if you have your own domain, you might consider moving to WordPress. (I think most of us who use WP were once Blogspotters.) Of course, if you get too popular (Resto4Life.com, maniasarcania.com), then you run the risk of being blocked.
The word “druid” in the URL seems to be a red flag too (nedruid.wordpress.com).
Fascists.
Blocking Amanna and Adventures in Azeroth??!!??
Now I”M ticked too!!!
Yeah odd that Amanna’s website got banned at my place, yet 95% of the other wordpress sites work…
All blogspots are banned too but i can kind of understand that…
