Warcrafter will let you substitute any item (including items you can't equip due to level or rep restrictions), then apply gems and/or enchants, and view the change(s) in your stats. You could also compare yourself to others of the same level and class, either in your guild (very easily) or by name, or class. It's also a useful tool for raid/guild/class leaders to see how their folks are geared, and enables them to make specific suggestions on how to be more viable. I really like having everything on one page. However, I'm not sure how I would use this in a practical sense. Would be cool if you could do a post about how you plan to use it.
