Feeling the Love…

I installed a new plugin for WordPress this morning, which allows me to view Technorati reactions on my Dashboard. "Sounds cool," I thought, since I don’t think the Technorati page that comes up from clicking the widget on my front page is all that user-friendly.

So I downloaded it, and was able to upload it via my GoDaddy account page’s Manage Files tool. This allows me to upload files to the blog without FTP, which means I can do small mods like this from work. (No, it wouldn’t work for something like a WordPress point update–some files are too large.)

I activated the plugin, refreshed my dashboard, and voilá:

Interesting…"NE Hunter L4Mobs, PST – ". I don’t recall seeing that before, anywhere. So I followed the link (and so should you). Siana is a level 70 NE Hunter in a raiding guild (currently they’ve progressed at least to SSC), with several alts. She writes about "What happens when one Night Elf hunter, one teal cat and way too much ammo meet way too many mobs to kill."

But what totally blew my mind (and hence the title of the post) is that in her blogroll listing of only 6 Hunter blogs, the Aerie is listed in the heady company of BRK, Lassirra, Mania, Pike, and Gun Lovin’ Dwarf Chick! WOW! So Siana’s earned a place both on the Hunter roll here, as well as in Google Reader. (I’ve said before, one can’t have too many hunter blogs!)

So then I looked at the second entry, Holy Nova. I’m guessing Priest blog, and probably not Shadow. *click* Good guess, Kes! A brand-new Priest blog (again, we can’t have too many!). Just two posts so far, but both very readable, especially the first one on Clueless People. Good rant there! I’d provide the author’s name…but I didn’t see even a nom de plume, much less a character name. Hopefully, we’ll be enlightened soon.

Again, however, what really rocked my socks was the blogroll. Now, some priests blogs were listed–the cream of the crop: Ego, Kirk, Matticus, Cay, and Galadria and Vladvin–but not the Aerie. Well, I should hope not: While my main (well, one of them) is a 70 Healy Priest, I don’t think I’ve ever made a purely priest-related entry here; I’m very much a minor leaguer compared to the afore-mentioned experts.

No, what really REALLY got my attention was the listing of non-Priest blogs. I even took a picture:

Holy Nova Blogroll

Only three blogs listed there, but OH MY GOOSES! To be included in the same breath with two people I consider to be two of the mightiest bloggers in the WoW universe is just totally and completely…words fail me. Oh yeah…before I lose it completely, I’ve also added Holy Nova to the blogroll and to Google Reader.

Now, I’m not nearly so naive as to think the blogrolls on both sites won’t be expanded, and I’ll simply be one among many, but I’m going to enjoy my 15 minutes of fame regardless!

    Hmm, I might have to install that plugin myself. I don’t think the WP dashboard of tracking inbound links is completely accurate enough.

    Matt, I’ve never really used the WP Dashboard that much. But the new plugin DID get me to revisit your site and comment on your Discipline article. :)

    Kestrel, you’ve always been up there with BRK and TJ and Lassirra and all of them. To me anyway :)

    @Bre & Pike:
    Aww…you two are too kind. :) /hug

    @Trollin’:
    Umm…cuz that’s a screenie? :p

    @Sherri:
    Hmm…not sure what you mean, exactly. Do you mean, how did your site end up in my Technorati links? If that’s the question, then it’s because your site links to mine, via your blogroll (tyvm for that, btw!). When the Technorati spider goes crawling about the web, it saw new content on your site (your latest post) and grabbed all the links from that page (i.e., your blogroll) and spun them off to the various sites.

    Ew, spiders! :)

    Very cool stuff. I just checked it and I can’t believe how many reactions I have on there. Wow, I didn’t even know about it. I wonder why some of these links don’t end up on my WordPress dashboard as incoming links? BTW, what is Authority? Is it like golf where you want it to be low? Or like a real sport where you want it to be high? ;)

    And ya, Kes, yer up there!

    Oh wow, I had no idea my blog would pop up anywhere! *goes into hiding*

    I don’t remember how I found your blog in the first place, but I’ve enjoyed reading your stuff, which is what I think is most important. :) Now I have to get my blog looking equally shiny!

    @Siana: Thanks for the compliment! :)

    @Game Dame: If you go to technorati.com, it explains Technorati Authority. I’m still not sure I understand everything I know about it, but higher IS better. Basically, it’s the number of current links (past 30 or 60 days, I think) to your site from elsewhere on the web.

    HEY! Golf IS a real sport–at least the way I play. WAY too much exercise, with as many strokes, and as much walking, as I do. :p

    LOL… love the golf description! For me, golf is more along the lines of Hide ‘N’ Seek. The balls hide and I seek. I mainly do it for the chance to ride in tiny cars.
