We Get Letters!

This morning, I was reading TJ’s blog, and commented on a recent article. Part of my comment was, "I just wish readers would email me asking my advice on something, so I could brag about getting email from a reader."

So imagine my joy and surprise to get the following e-mail later this morning:

Kestrel-

When havings Night Elves fer dinner, do you recommends white wine or red? Or do it depend on the class – white fer priests, red fer hunters, maybe?

Thanks.

Well, Mr. Ratshag, I certainly want to thank you for writing. I especially want to thank you for asking a question on a topic on which I can at last claim some expertise: The care and feeding (wining and dining) of Night Elves. To keep this article relatively short, I’ll just talk about wine; perhaps we’ll expand upon other adult beverages in a later article.

Now then…let me first dispel one common myth regarding wine: It doesn’t really matter what color wine you serve with what color meat. Drink what tastes good! That said, a fruity, sweet Morning Glory Dew probably won’t taste as good with that thick Talbuk steak as, say, a fine Bottle of Pinot Noir from Vinemaster Alamaro, up in the Scryer Tier of Shattrath.

On the other hand, if your main course is a bit lighter, such as a fruit and cheese tray for dessert, featuring such delicacies as Stormwind Brie, Tel’Abim Bananas, and Dwarven Mild, you might want to go with a rare (at least to us Alliance folk) Suntouched Special Reserve

Or perhaps you’re having some fowl as the main dish. In that case, I can recomm…

WAITASEC…

What do you mean, exactly, by "…havings Night Elves for dinner…"???

Night Elves would count as white meat – so I would recommend the white wine.

Funny! I prefer my night elves sauteed in butter and spring onions, and then doused with a good cognac and a bit of cream to make a nice frenchy type sauce that compliments the big ears and feminine…WAIT. I mean my cat, who ironically is called Nelfeater, and my ravager, who is called Nelfkebaber like it that way…Yes, I play only Horde :P

    That was great!

And I’ve always figured nelfs as a darker, gamier meat. While Blood Elves are more delicate and refined. -_^

Hey you should not make me lol at work. I’d recommend the red wine if you are having a nelf for dinner. We nelfs have red blood, too.

Actually, one of my guildmates made a similar suggestion last night, Yashima: A sweet red wine. :)
