I Try To Hide, But They Find Me Anyway

I know other bloggers have done this, but for me it’s a way to break the writer’s block. Here are 10 search terms that led folks to the Aerie yesterday:

hunter bm template

Yep, I have one, and I’m proud of it. Might need a tweak or two for end-game raiding, but I’m sure BRK can help you out there.

scout wow comic

Hmm…I have links to several sites I consider humorous, but not to Scout. If memory serves, Scout is a female NE hunter, but the strip hasn’t been updated in a while. Anyone want to do a search to see how well I did there?

sethekk halls map layout

Points for correctly spelling “Sethekk.” Hope this was helpful.

psycho dwarf priest

Ahem…err…I promise you, that is the search term as reported by my WP dashboard! Now I would hardly characterize her as “psycho” but perhaps this Dwarf Priest was the object of the search. Ohh…just be careful: She melts kneecaps!

discipline raiding post 2.4 patch

Yes, I have a priest. No, he’s not Discipline-specced. He’s as holy as he can be without going all LOLwell. So let me see what pops up when I Google this… Ahh…. On Page 4 of my Google search was this link. (WTH was the person looking for if they had to go to page 4 to find it? Or perhaps, it was the catchy article title??)

titan panel review

Guilty as charged; however, as indicated there, I’ve abandoned Titan Panel for FuBar. Can’t imagine going back now.

beast master macro’s

beast mastery hunter macro

Points off for the first searcher, turning a plural into a possessive. I hate that! And methinks the second searcher was simply looking for an “I WIN!” button. Now then…just last month I pontificated about how I roll Beast Master, and included a few macros.

does camouflage and fleet footed stack?

Do people really type natural language questions into Google? (I’ve no idea, actually, if this was a Google, Yahoo!, MSN, or any other particular search engine.) I wonder if grammar counts with search engines? How about we use “does” for singular objects, and “do” for plural, mmkay? Oh…and…I’ve no idea. Last week I talked about Falken’s new PvP build, and the fact I regretted losing Camouflage (hey, at least the searcher spelled that right!), but not sure I’ve ever talked about Fleet Footed. Have I?

When I was writing my WoW blog, SiteMeter provided loads of blogging material due to how folks came upon my blog. My current one has some interesting folks that come by based upon their search parameters, but I have yet to find anything truly blog-worthy about them. I’m hoping time and some truly sick & twisted individual stumbles upon my blog based upon a strange Google search.

Good detective work. :) Sheesh…I guess I’m getting old(er). I forgot it doesn’t have an RSS feed…and I didn’t bookmark it. Shame on me.

HeHe, In answer to your penultimate hit, I do google searches with natural language questions.

My rationale is that hopefully I will get hits on a blog or forum where someone has actually asked that exact question and received a reasonable answer.

Doesn’t often work out that well though!!

What do you use to track this? I’ve noticed on my blog that I’ll see hits from google but there’s no direct URL. I would love to know how to track this!

Kirryn, I simply went into my Dashboard from the Admin link, clicked the “Blog Stats” link, and scrolled down to “Search Engine Terms”. Now, it doesn’t tell me the link, but it tells me the search term.

You can also look at Referrers to see the page that someone left to enter your site. For example, I get a lot of people entering the Aerie from Ratshag’s, Ego’s, and BBB’s sites.

Looks like you are using a different platform, but I’m sure the steps are similar.
