This morning, I’m out in Nagrand mining. I see a vein, and approach it. There’s a dwarf and a draenei by it, and the dwarf is just jumping up and down. I watch from the air for a few seconds, then land, wait a few more seconds, and then the following exchange takes place:
11:07:30 [Say] <70:Falken>: You going to mine that, or just dance on it?

A Night Elf comes out of the cave; hadn’t seen him before. His reply:
11:07:38 Snavehenog makes a rude gesture at you.The NE and the Dwarf each take a whack at the vein.
11:07:47 [Say]
: stfu
11:07:56 [S] <70:Falken>: That was rather uncalled for.
At that point, I flew off, continuing my mining run. I was a little…no, a lot put off by their reaction, but figured such is life. Ahh, karma, sweet karma.
About 15 minutes later, I’m flying over Skysong Lake and I see a node. Remember, I’m but a simple rogue: I can’t tell if there’s anyone near that node or not. So I drop down, dismount, take a deep breath and dive in. Someone is fighting one of the Lake Surgers; I look to see if I can help with the kill, and let the person mine the vein. Lo and behold, it’s my old buddy Ilheal!
With absolutely no qualm or hesitation, I took three whacks at that vein. There was one left, and I waited for the dwarf to finish killing the Surger. He does so, and instead of taking the last whack at the vein, he swims off. /shrug, okay, I’ll take it. And I do. Next thing I know, he’s drawn a surger to me! I laugh to myself, say "Next time a little politeness might go a long way," vanish, and swim to the surface.
Ten minutes after that, I receive the following /tell:
11:35:16 [W From] <70:Ilheal>: i was waiting on snave to get the ore you were the one being rude by askin if i was goin to dance on it
11:35:57 [W To] <70:Ilheal>: Rude would have been going in and ninjaing the node from you. Rude was the gesture and the comment. Polite was me NOT taking the vein.
Ilheal is ignoring you.
/boggle
At any rate,

Some people are so bloody rude
You’re better off having someone like that on ignore hun!
Softis last blog post..Oh ma holy hell…
You know if you were a hordie you could have killed the dwarf…
Just saying…
@ Lienna: If I’d done that, his two friends woulda killed me. But if they were opposite faction, I’d have taken the vein without a second thought.
My ignore list is filled with people like that. I even have a little macro that sends them a whisper with “Welcome to my ignore list
”
Well it would be rude of me to not welcome them to such a popular place
The Incompetent Warrior.
Stuntyones last blog post..Sorry L
It’s Bringers of Death, what did you expect? For that matter, what did you expect from anyone on KT. Never seen a more immature, drama laden, juvenile, devoid of decency or else worthwile server than KT on both Horde or Alliance side.
Grroves last blog post..Trowing up a bit into my mouth
@ Stuntyone: Well, they saved me the trouble, since they decided to /ignore me. *shrug*
@ Grrove: Kul Tiras was pretty nice when I first landed there (right after it opened, in fact). And I think you paint the server (Alliance side, anyway) with a rather broad brush: Out of the thousands on the server, there are perhaps half a hundred, if that, who go out of their way to be jerks. That said, those few make up in sheer crap, what they lack in numbers.
Interestingly, some of the more prominent are also some of the better technical players (by that I mean, high Arena ratings, Tier 6/S-3 maxed: they’ve been everywhere and done everything). But I’m fuzzy as to why that gives them license to be complete asshats. Oh well, that may be a post for another day.
And you rant better than I do, anyway.
With all due respect, Kestrel, from the Nakitaa debacle, over the Uthers Champions ups and downs, the rise, general asshattery (I wouldn’t curse on your blog, but you started it
, and fall of Malevolence and Scrub Lord Demandrid in particular, the Departed, Alliance doesn’t quite have much in its favor.
Not that there aren’t good people on Alliance, but if the best we can get, progressionwise, are a bunch of literal children (12-16) in the Departed….
I rolled on KT, Alliance side, the day it opened. Raided, PvPd, got spanked by Unholysaint, Gricend, Hoern, Kickinazz, and Daak more than once in BG and World PvP, but that just wasn’t enough to make me stay. I left when TOOTY crumbled, and I haven’t regretted it one day. I check the forums every once in a while and log into my Warrior there, but … nah.
Grroves last blog post..Trowing up a bit into my mouth
Someone sent me a link here, said it might bring a smile to my face from the good ol’ WoW days
You must have spent a lot of time at XR and TM to have listed my name first.
I swear, gathering professions are the bane of my existence at times. My miner is forever getting beaten to nodes by people on flying mounts.. I’m fighting my way over to one only to see the dot disappear and someone take off back into the sky. Yesterday there was a fight in General chat over herbing the trees in Skettis because a rogue was fighting one and died, and a priest took it over and finished killing it. I wish people could just understand that there are always more of what they’re there for, and yes, it might take a few more minutes to find the next one, but so freaking what???
Asaras last blog post..To (spend) DKP or not to (spend) DKP, that is the question!
People get particularly snarky on ore veins it seems. I finally decided enough was enough and that I needed my epic mount so I put my alts on hold and sent my shaman around mining ore for prospecting and gems sales. I see a rich adamantite vein, make my way over there, look to see if anyone is mining it and kill the Naga Caster next to it. A couple of whacks in, a Rogue on his kitty cat comes tearing up and automatically starts whacking at it right next to me.
I do my best to time my next whack right and turn off auto-loot. I just stay kneeling at the vein, looking at the ore in my loot window.
You’re kidding right? Trying to snake a vein someone is -actively- mining?
LoL. I didn’t see you there.
Yes you did. You were standing right next to me.
LoL. *doesn’t leave*
I’ve got all the time in the world. A Tivo full of back episodes of Law and Order and a tasty drink.
I’m not even a miner.
Your mining pick says otherwise.
Whatever.
They’re saying goodbye to Jesse L Martin this year on Law and Order. I’m excited to see this. It’s going to be sweet. I think I have almost the full season. Fan of Law & Order? I am. I could watch it for hours…
*Naga Caster respawns, aggros the rogue. Rogue blinds it, blind fades and the rogue gets full aggro. I stand up, the vein fades away.*
Fag
Stay classy. Smell you later.
People are free to grief as long as the internet provides them with anonymity. Best I can hope for is to avoid being a jerk to others.
Scotts last blog post..On changes, alts, progression, and repression.
@Scott Pretty funny story. Fortunately I haven’t encountered this issue yet. I generally have skinners and herbalists for gathering and I don’t find that I have to compete at all with others.
