I’m a Winner?

The other day, I happened to visit Obsessable.com. I wish I could remember why I went there…I’m sure I followed a link from something I was reading, but I can’t seem to find that link now. At any rate, Obsessable is a relatively new site. According to the site’s tagline, "Obsessable covers the latest in the world of technology, including cell phones,digital cameras, and HDTVs — obsessively, of course."

To be perfectly honest, I didn’t spend a lot of time perusing the site; the link I followed was part of a blurb publicizing Obsessable’s first contest, for an 8GB iPod Nano. Normally, I don’t look twice at online contests. However, for some reason I went ahead and entered this one. The entry was easy, and all I needed to do was talk about my favorite gadget. (I have way too many gadgets; how am I supposed to just pick one?) So I wrote a few words about my iPod Touch, hit "Submit," and promptly and completely forgot about it.

Until I received this email today:

Thanks for entering Obsessable’s First Contest (from http://www.obsessable.com). Your entry was selected as a winner! Please send me your mailing address, the color you would prefer for your iPod nano, and name that you would like to appear on the iPod nano and we’ll order the iPod nano and have it sent directly to you from Apple.  Send all requested information to ck@hisaddress.com.

From all of us at Obsessable, we hope you enjoy the prize.

 There was also a link to confirm some information. I followed that link, which looked legitimate, and also went to Obsessable, where I found this story! Ever the skeptic, I pasted the URL to Blog Azeroth chat, where it was independently verified by Matticus and Breana.

Now, I just need to figure out what to do with the Nano. I have an iPod Touch. It replaced the 30GB Video iPod (3rd Gen) I still have. Maybe some lucky family member will get it for Christmas (although I think everyone who wants one, has one!). Or maybe I’ll flip it and make it a contest prize here at the Aerie (if I do that, you can thank Matticus for the suggestion). We’ll see. First, I need to have it in my hot little hands.

Congrats! I just placed the order for your iPod nano, you should get it directly from Apple sometime between November 11th and the 17th according to Apple’s robots.

So how about THAT, my fine feathered friends?

The most important question of the day, though, is whether I should buy tickets for Wednesday’s PowerBall drawing!
