Friday Five: WoW Blogs You MUST Read

While I don’t write about World of Warcraft nearly as much as I used to, it’s still a very big part of my online life. I probably read about WoW as much as I play it (maybe even more), despite the fact I’ve cut the number of WoW blogsto which I’m subscribed by at least half, and probably by as much as two-thirds. 1, 2, 3, 4

I could make a whole bunch more caveats, but that’s not why you’re here. Instead, I want to submit the following as blogs you should include in your regular WoW reading, regardless of class or spec. Some of these are worth adding even if you don’t play WoW.

  1. The Pink Pigtail Inn. Larísa provides some of the most cogent, insightful commentary you can find anywhere about the world of World of Warcraft. Her co-contributor, Elnia, is every bit as well-spoken. Between the two of them, you will be intrigued, challenged, and inspired. RSS.
  2. Too Many Annas. Do you have even the slightest interest in WoW roleplaying? No? That’s okay, you should still read Anna, because she’s about a lot more than RP. If nothing else, she is the most ladylike ranter I know. But as a jumping off point for all things RP, you won’t find better. I don’t RP at all, but I still cling to every word she writes. RSS.
  3. World of Snarkcraft. Jov and Seri provide what is ostensibly a healer blog, but as they are one of them is co-GMs of their guild, you’ll certainly get that perspective as well. Their snarkiness (which, to me, seems rather toned down of late) provides just the right amount of spice and humor. Generally they each post once a week, generally on a Tuesday-Thursday schedule, which is almost, but not quite enough. RSS.
  4. I Like Bubbles. Another healer blog, of sorts. Amber is the best (and funniest) ranter in WoW. But more often than not, she’s 100 percent spot on with her rants. Besides healing with bubbles and lasers, I love her just for the tagline on her site: "Letting noobs like Arrens die since 2005." That’s @Arrensof course. :D Amber’s also an officer in her guild, so there are quite often some pretty interesting insights into guild management. But for me, it’s just one laugh after another. RSS.
  5. Aspect of the Hare. Yes, a hunter blog. Specifically, a BM hunter. So? You read BRK, didn’t you? Now, Pike isn’t BRK, and doesn’t pretend to be. But her writing is every bit as compelling and even, at times, more nerdy. Or more geeky. You pick. If you do play a hunter, then I submit there is no better place to read about the nuances of the BM spec for 99 percent of us. (The other one percent don’t read blogs anyway.) As an added treat, there’s the occasional bit of well-done fanfic. RSS.
  1. No offense to any of you whose blogs I don’t regularly read: There are only so many hours in the day!
  2. By the way, I read a lot more WoW blogs than are listed in the Blogroll; I wiped everything a few weeks ago and haven’t updated it. My bad.
  3. I also read a LOT of blog articles from folks not in my RSS feed, by clicking links through Twitter.
  4. Wow…that’s a lot of footnotes!

Technically, it’s Tuesday/Thursday, so we’re usually twice a week. Things have just been crazy on our end the past… um, month so we’ve kinda lapsed (oops).

(And I’m not a co-GM, Seri’s cheating on me with a tree. Besides, you can’t put me in charge of anything (except healers) because I’m a PR disaster waiting to happen whenever I open my mouth >.>)

But thank ye for the link <3

See? This is why I don’t do research: My readers do it for me!

Seriously, I apologize for the oversight on the GMship; somehow I always thought you were co-GM, but I also knew it was a tree…so no excuse for that disconnect! Also, I meant you each post once a week; blame the NFL for that one–I was distracted as I wrote last night!

What can I possibly say after such a tribute? I’m touched, I’m humbled and grateful beyond words for this linklove. You just gave me a well needed blogger innervation. From my heart: thank you.

Au contraire: The thanks are all mine, for writing articles that really make us think. A blogger who can do that consistently is at the top of her craft. But if my words can inspire you to even greater heights, then I’m a happy man.

Hee, I agree, and am tickled to see that the blogs that I still read even though I’m not playing wow anymore are up there. <3

Heheh…you know, I didn’t even realize these were all blogs by female authors. But I’ve featured quite a few male WoW bloggers before, too: Matticus, Ratshag, BigBearButt, BRK, Kirk (Priestly Endeavors, no longer updated). So there ;)
